Shoulder Flashcards
Superior glenohumeral
1) origin
2) insertion
3) what movement does it check
1) Anterior superior margin of the glenoid rim
2) anatomical neck of humerous
3) external rotation
Middle glenohumeral ligament
1) origin
2) insertion
3) what movement does it check
1) Anterior superior margin of the glenoid rim. Then runs below superior glenohumeral ligament
2) anatomical neck of humerous
3) external rotation
Inferior glenohumeral ligament
1) Attachments of the two bands (anterior & posterior)
2) insertion
3) Function
1) Anterior band - anterior superior margin of the glenoid rim then runs below middle glenohumeral
Posterior - to the anatomical neck
2) humerous. just beyond lesser tuberosity
3) Supports humeral head
Acromioclavicular joint ligaments
and what they do
- acromioclavicular ligament
- coracoclavicular ligament (pulls clavicle down)
- reinforce joint capsule
Sternoclavicular joint ligaments
- interclavicular ligament
- anterostrenoclavicular ligament
- posterior stereoclavicular ligament
- costoclavicular ligament
coracoclavicular ligaments
1) origin
2) insertion
3) function
- coronoid (medial) & trapezoid (lateral)
1) coracoid process
2) inferior clavicle
3) support acromioclavicular joint and prevents superior dislocation
coracohumeral ligament
1) attachment
2) function
1) runs laterally from coracoid process to humerous, covering superior Glenohumeral ligament
2) AP - limits extension
PP - limits flexion
supports weight of resting arm
coracoacromial ligament
1) origin
2) insertion
3) action
1) medial border of acromion
2) lateral border of coracoid process
3) supports head of humerous
