Normal Clear
pushes opponent to back of court to create opening in front of court
not too low (easy to return) or too high (allows them time to plan)
loose forehand grip, racket arm at 90°, other arm point at shuttle, chest open toward shuttle
High Clear
Use when under pressure to gain recovery time
More exaggerated for maximum height -> time
hit shuttle with bended wrist from below for morr height
Purpose of Drop Shot
relocate opponent, catch them off guard
reduce their control of return
create space in mid/back court
Execution of drop shot
relaxed grip (fore/back)
hit shuttle at highest point
gently tap to reduce power
body language of clear to avoid predictability
slow drop
shuttle lands as close to net as possible
shuttle travels slow/not steep
fast drop
shuttle lands mid court towards sidelines
shuttle travels quickly and steeply
Purpose of Smash
hit shuttle with power and speed down into opponents court
forces weak return/prevent return
changes pace of game, puts opponent in defense
Execution of smash
firm forehand grip
hit shuttle at highest point slightly in front of body
extend forearm and add wrist snap
move body quickly to create power
Follow through for strong downward flight
Forehand Smash
hit in downward trajectory
rotate whole body for more power
arm extend forward in downward motion
Stick Smash
slower steep trajectory
create illusion of drop/clear
elbow stays in position with body allowing wrist snap with downward motion of racket
Backhand Smash
requires rotsting foreaem to hit shuttle in whip like motion
only if shuttle is low/past
