What is Establishing Shot?
It is typically wide enough to establish the geography, time of the day, show the scale of the subject in relation to environment and it is often used in to transition between scenes.
What is Master Shot?
Master shot confirms the location. It also clarifies which characters are in the scene, and where they are in relationship to each other.
What is Wide Shot?
The wide shot position subjects far from the camera to visually represent their relationship to their enviroment. This is different from establishing shot because wide shot is about subject and their enviroment
What is Full Shot?
When a subjects entire body reaches from the top to the bottom edges of the frame.
What is Medium Full Shot?
The medium full shot is arranged from the top of the subjects head to just below their hips. Use it when you want to represent your subject confident
What is Medium Shot?
Perhaps the most popular shot size in all of cinema. Because it is more neutral, but also neither dramatic like a close up. It captures how we interact with people.
The tipical composition of a medium shot starts abowe the waist but below chest and ends just above the head.
What is Medium Close Up Shot (MCU) ?
When a shot frames subject from mid-chest to just above their head. Reveal characters details and prioritizing story. Use it when you get intimate with subject without loosing their physicality. Medium Close up is going from Head to chest.
What is Close Up (CU)?
This is the most powerful visual weapon for highlighting a change in emotion or dramatic beat on screen. Close ups are the most often arranged at eye level.
What is Extreme Close Up Shot (ECU)?
An extreme close up frames a subject to isolate a specific area. This could be lips, ears or nose. But eyes are the typical focus. They are also called Insert shots.
Insert shot are commonly used when you want to highlight and isolate something crucial to the narrative.
It is the most intimate and dramatic shot size.
