Q

The modal model (structural features)

A
  • Sensory store: holds incoming sensory information for a very short time (unattended information is lost)
  • short-term store: holds information temporarily (represented acoustically) and unrehearsed information is lost
  • long-term store: stores information semantically (based on meaning) for long periods, some information may be lost over time

Q

The modal model (control processes)

A
  • Rehearsal: repetition of information that helps transfer information from STS to LTS (not effective)
  • coding: associating to-be-remembered information with already known information (much more effective)
  • retrieval strategies: techniques to improve recall (organizing information meaningfully)
