Short-term And Working Memory Flashcards
1
Q
The modal model (structural features)
A
- Sensory store: holds incoming sensory information for a very short time (unattended information is lost)
- short-term store: holds information temporarily (represented acoustically) and unrehearsed information is lost
- long-term store: stores information semantically (based on meaning) for long periods, some information may be lost over time
2
Q
The modal model (control processes)
A
- Rehearsal: repetition of information that helps transfer information from STS to LTS (not effective)
- coding: associating to-be-remembered information with already known information (much more effective)
- retrieval strategies: techniques to improve recall (organizing information meaningfully)
