Sentence: The woman’s anger is so palpable, even police are afraid to come near.

Definition: Describes something that has substance or reality, it is capable of being touch

Definition: Describes something that removes feeling, of unfriendliness or mistrust
Sentence: The teacher’s smile was so disarming that the students forgot their worries and liked him immediately.

Definition: Describes something or someone that is skilled in breaking a whole into its parts
Sentence: His teacher wanted him to use his analytically skills when studying the poem, so he had to look at each of the different parts.

Definition: Describes something that has no result or effect
Sentence: We tried to prepare for Hurricane Sandy as best we could, but our efforts were futile and our whole house was destroyed.
