How is it different from a novel?
It has 1-50 pages and 2-3 characters.
What is the vantage point?
The vantage point is the point of view. First person and third person.
What are the types of characters?
Main, minor and antagonist/protagonist
What is the protagonist?
The protagonist is the hero/heroine.
What is an antagonist?
An antagonist is the adversary against the protagonist (usually villain).
What are the elements of a short story?
Plot, character, conflict, theme and setting
What are flat characters?
Flat characters are less important and is a static character.
What are round characters?
Round characters have many traits and is a dynamic character.
What is a conflict?
A conflict is a struggle between the characters.
What is the theme?
The theme is the main idea.
What are the four types of conflict?
Person vs person, person vs self, person vs society and person vs nature.
What is the setting?
The setting is the time and place which includes mood/atmosphere.
What is the dialogue?
It is the spoken part of the short story in between double quotations.
What are the components of a plot graph?
Introduction, inciting event, rising action, climax, falling action and conclusion/resolution
What is the introduction?
The setting and characters are established in the intro.
What is the inciting event?
The problem/conflict is introduced.
What is the rising action?
The conflict intensifies.
What is the climax?
The climax is the point of highest action.
What is the falling action?
The falling action is the conflict resolved.
What is the conclusion?
The conclusion ties up loose ends.
What is the fancy word for conclusion?
Denouement
