Carbon 14 dating:all living things contain carbon. When they did carbon 14 decreases, this allows us to work out the age. Accurate up to 50,000 years

Explain the term rescue/salvage archeology
If a site is found by accident during construction it is in danger of being damaged. Archaeologists must move quickly to save as much evidence of the past as possible.

Explain the term hunter gatherer
Early settlers who hunted wild animals and gathered berries and nuts. They did not grow crops or raise animals

Neolithic houses were made by putting thick poles in the ground and wearing branched between them, this was called wattle.
Daub was a mixture of mud and straw that they plastered on the wattle to keep out the wind and rain

They were good engineers and they understood astronomy. A small opening above the entrance called a roof box allows the sunlight to travel along the passage and light up the chamber 21st December every year.
