what are some individual experiences?
personal growth experiences, loss and grief, relationships (both romantic and platonic), adventure experiences, cultural experiences and personal achievements such as starting a new book shop
these factors contribute to their personal growth
what are some collective human experiences?
Social Movements, cultural traditions, Wars and Conflicts, world pandemic such as covid-19, local sports team, Economic Shifts (recessions)
what are human qualities?
empathy, compassion, creativity, curiosity (in 1984 especially), resilience, integrity (strong moral and ethical principles and being honest and trustworthy), Rationality (solving problems), forgiveness, gratitude, loyalty (to the Party)
what are anomalies?
Behaviours and motivations outside the norms => the anomaly would be the party completely manipulating the lives of citizens such as giving them no privacy
what are paradoxes?
Behaviours which conflict with the motivations =====> e.g Thoughtcrime and how the paradox restricts freedom of thought and expression, turning independent thinking into an offense
How are humans inconsistent?
Inconsistencies can be created through emotions (happy to sad to angry), beliefs and values (e.g a person might claim to value environmental conservation but still engage in practices that harm the environment), behaviour (acting different according to situations), growth and learning (can lead to inconsistency sometimes)
what are some human motivations explored?
Survival and Safety, Social Connection and Belonging, Achievement and Competence (striving for excellence), Achievement and Competence, Power and Influence, Curiosity and Exploration
