Shock, Head Injuires and Stroke Flashcards
bleeding and fluid loss (results in increased system vascular resistance)
Hypervolemic
widespread dilation of blood vessels. (From septic, neurogenic, anaphylactic, and psychogenic)
Disruptive
slowly or gradually show symptoms because of venous bleeding
Subdural hematoma
bleeding between the skull and Dura matter (internal bleeding). Rapid onset of symptoms
Epidural hematoma
high energy trauma (bleeding from the ear, battle signs, or raccoon eyes)
Basilar skull fracture
mild head injury without blood. (GCS of 14 or 15 with confusion)
Concussion
ICP
fixed and dilated pupils, abnormal respirations, widening pulse pressure and bradycardia.
Ischemic stroke
treatment within 3 hours and a maximum of 6.
absence of sweating below the level of injury, bradycardia, hypotension, and warm skin below the level of injury.
Neurogenic shock
Jugular vein distension can occur in which type of shock
Obstructive shock
Skull fractures
Depressed, linear, basilar.
Hallmark for neurogenic shock
Warm dry skin
Hypotension and bradycardia
