Shock Flashcards
1
Q
4 categories of shock
A
- hypovolemic shock
- cardiogenic shock
- distributive shock
- obstructive shock
2
Q
Hypovolemic shock
A
- Hypotension (low BP)
- tachycardia (High HR/P)
- pale cool clammy skin
- FLUID LOSS = hyperthermia (sweating), vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding (hemorrhagic) and burns
3
Q
Cardiogenic shock
A
- hypotension (low BP)
- tachycardia (high HR/P)
- pale cool clammy skin
- crackles
- POOR HEART FUNCTION = acute MI, valve failure, arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pericarditis, PE
4
Q
Types of Distributive shock
A
Anaphylaxis, neurogenic shock, and septic shock
5
Q
Anaphylaxis
A
- Hypotension (low BP)
- tachycardia (high HR/P)
- restlessness
- hives
- swelling of throat
6
Q
Neurogenic shock
A
- Hypotension (low BP)
- Bradycardia (low HR/P)
- warm, dry skin
- Caused by injury to CNS or drugs
7
Q
Septic Shock
A
- Hypotension (low BP)
- tachycardia (High HR/P)
- pink, warm, flushes skin
- caused by infection or organ damage/dysfunction
8
Q
Obstructive shock
A
- hypotension (low BP)
- tachycardia (high HR/P)
- something is obstructing the flow of blood
- caused by tension pneumothorax, pericardial tamponade, pulmonary embolism
