Shock Flashcards
Types of shock
Hypovolemic shock
Distributive shock
Obstructive shock
Cardiogenic shock
Obstructive shock
SBP <90mmHg orMAP <70 mmHg
May have reduced urine output, altered mental status, etc
elevated lactate
Evidence of PE, Cardiac tamponade, tension pneumothorax
Cardiogenic shock
May have significant cardiac history
May present with chest pain, syncope
May have signs of heart failure- dyspnea on exertion/at rest, orthopnea, PND, leg swelling
Reduced urine output, may have altered mental status.
SBP <90mmHg or MAP < 70 mmHg
May have arrhythmias
Hypovolemic shock
Suspect with
cold clammy extremities, SBP < 90 mmHg, reduced urine output, +/- altered mental status
May have evidence of bleeding, internal fluid losses- third spacing, GI losses e.g profuse diarrhea
Elevated lactate
