Shock Flashcards
What is septic shock?
Life threatening organ dysfunction de to dysregulated host response to infection
What causes septic shock?
Infection
What is the HR in septic shock?
Tachycardia
What is the skin appearance in septic shock?
Pink, warm, flushed
What is the management of septic shock?
Prompt sepsis 6
What is hypovolaemic shock?
Decreased intravascular volume to post of CV collapse
What can cause hypovolaemic shock?
Haemorrhage
Dehydration
What is the HR in hypovolaemic shock?
tachycardia
What is the skin in hypovolaemic shock?
Cool, pale
What is the management of hypovolaemic shock?
Blood/fluid replacement
Management of haemorrhage
What is neurogenic shock?
Distributive shock caused by disruption of autonomic pathways in spinal cord
What causes neurogenic shock?
Damage to spinal cord above T6
What is the HR in neurogenic shock?
Bradycardic
What is the skin in neurogenic shock?
Warm, dry skin
What is the management of neurogenic shock?
Vasopressors e.g. noradrenaline
What is cardiogenic shock?
Decreased cardiac output and evidence of tissue hypoxia in the presence of adequate intravascular volume
What can cause cardiogenic shock?
Acute MI
Arrythmia
Cardiomypathy
Cardiac tamponade
What is the HR in cardiogenic shock?
Tachycardia
What is the skin in cardiogenic shock?
Cool, pale
What is the management of cardiogenic shock?
Treat cause
Vasopressors e.g. noradrenaline
GTN
What is anaphylactic shock?
Severe, life threatening hypersensitivity reaction
What are some causes of anaphylactic shock?
Children= food Older= medication, insect bites
What is the HR in anaphylactic shock?
TAchycardic
What is the skin in anaphylactic shock?
Warm skin
