Sherlock Holmes Flashcards
It would seem we’ve met our end this time, Holmes
Elementary, my dear Watson
Holmes, I was wishing you wouldn’t agree with me
Well, Watson, old fellow, one can never call Sherlock Holmes dishonest. I fear this time we will become a blot on the ceiling - if of course there is any ceiling left after the explosion
Indeed
Indeed, is indeed right. (trying desperately to wiggle free) Wiggle Watson! Wiggle!
It’s no use Holmes
I fear you’re correct, old boy. That mad Moriority can certainly tie a dandy fine knot.
I’ll say. And her manage to do it several time, Holmes. I fear we are doomed. In ten minutes, there will be nothing left of the great Sherlock Holmes and his faithful old sidekick old Dr. Watson. Nothing but atoms.
Never fear, Watson. We still have nine minutes and fifteen seconds left to free ourselves and locate that… what was it we were looking for?
A bomb Holmes! Can’t you hear it ticking?
Ah, yes. Elementary, Watson. Judging by the sound of that ticking, I’d say it was definitely a time bomb.
Holmes! It is! Moriority said it was set to go off in ten minutes. Which would mean we now have less than nine minutes to live!
The situation would seem utterly hopeless, Watson. Would it not?
Yes, yes, Holmes. But I’m counting on you. You;ve gotten us out of worse predicaments than this one.
I have? Name one.
Holmes! There’s no times for that now. We have to free ourselves and locate that bomb before it blows us to kingdom come.
Yes, indeed, old boy. Try to wiggle your fingers. Can you, old fellow?
No, Holmes. Moriority has made these ropes so tight, I have lost all feeling in my hands.
Funny.
I see nothing funny about it Holmes. Nothing at all. I cannot see where you would.
It’s just that my hands are perfectly well. However, I have lost all feeling in my left leg. And then there is the usual gout in the right one. I am not at all comfortable Watson what with these ropes, this bomb, and my gout.
Gout? I didn’t know you had gout, Holmes.
There are quite a few things that you don’t know about me, Watson
Like what?
Did you know, for instance, that I am terrified of being blown to bits by small, medium, or large sized bombs?
No! I did not know that! I’m amazed! And here I thought you were absolutely fearless.
I fear I am quite terrified Watson. I may scream for help any second now.
You and me both! Do you have a plan Holmes?
A plan?
Yes. To free us and find that bomb.
No. Do you?
Me? I’m just an old faithful sidekick. I know nothing about plans. My forte is fiction, and occasionally medicine.
I was hoping you did, old fellow. For I fear we have less than six minutes to destruction. I do hate to see my dear old friend blown to bits.
Holmes. I never even though you cared on wit about me.
I wasn’t referring to, you Watson, I was referring to my fiddle.
