Negative: it’s quite a shallow response despite it.
Accepts responsibility and emphasises how bad she feels about Eva’s death.
“I know I’m to blame- and I’m desperately sorry-“
“I’m ashamed of it, but now youre beginning to pretend that nothing much has happened-“
1st person shows she is aware of her behaviour.
Trying to adopt the assertive mature persona she has developed across the play.
Example that she has learned her lesson.
