What is Sexual Harassment?
Unwanted sexual advances, sexual favor requests, verbal comments, and physical conduct of sexual nature where rejection of can impact or interfere with someone’s job, pay, or career.
What is Sexual Assault?
Intentional sexual contact by the use of force, threats, intimidation, abuse of authority, or when the victim does not or cannot consent.
What are the two types of Sexual Harassment?
Quid Pro Quo and Hostile Environment
What is quid pro quo?
Conditions places on someone’s job or career in return for sexual favors.
What is a hostile environment?
When personnel are exposed to offensive, unwanted, and unsolicited sexual comments or behaviors.
What are the three categories of Sexual Harassment?
Verbal, nonverbal, and physical contact
What is verbal sexual harassment?
Jokes, comments, whistling, or pet names
What is nonverbal sexual harassment?
Staring, displays, messaging or music.
What is physical contact in regards to sexual harassment?
Touching, Cornering, or kissing.
What are the different reporting options for sexual harassment?
Anonymous, informal, and formal
What range is sexual harassment punishable by?
Full range of administrative, non-judicial, and judicial actions.
What is the difference between an informal and formal complaint?
Informal: with full-time BDE level SARC
Formal: with CO/VAs/SARCs (Soldiers) or EEO office (Civilians)
What is consent?
A freely given agreement to the conduct at hand by a competent person.
