A

1) Do not permit shampoo to get into the patron’s eyes
2) Protect patron’s ears with cotton if they have sensitive ears
3) Test water temperature before wetting the client’s hair
4) Do not scratch the patron’s scalp with your fingernails
5) Towel blot excess water from the patron’s before they leave the sink area
6) Do not permit the shampoo cape to come in contact with the patron’s skin

7) Use sanitization combs, brushes, towels, and other implements for each patron
8) Do not turn the dryer to hot if the patron has high blood pressure
9) Do not permit water to remain on the floor around the shampoo bowl
10) Clean shampoo bowl, and sanitize the neck of the bowl after each use
11) Place all used towels in the proper receptacle for washing immediately after use
12) Return shampoo cape to the proper spot in the readiness of the next client

What are the FIRST 10 Steps of the Shampoo Procedure?

A
  1. Seat Client - seat client comfortably at workstation
  2. Perform Consultation - consult with client on desired hair services
  3. Sanitize hands - wash hands with soap and warm water
  4. Drape Client - Turn collar to the inside. Place towel across client’s shoulders, cross ends beneath the chin
  5. Place Cape - place over the towel and fasten in the back so that cape does not touch the client’s skin
  6. Place Towel - place another towel over the cape and secure in the front
  7. Remove Objects - remove hair ornaments, hairpins, etc.
  8. Remove Jewelry - have client remove jewelry and glasses
  9. Analyze scalp
  10. Brush - brush hair thoroughly

What are the LAST 10 Steps of the Shampoo Procedure?

A
  1. Adjust Water - adjust volume and temperature
  2. Saturate Hair - wet hair lifting it to thoroughly saturate all areas. Protect client’s face, ears, and neck
  3. Apply Shampoo - begin at the hairline and work back
  4. Massage Scalp - use circular motions
  5. Rinse Hair Thoroughly - useing strong spray, work out shampoo
  6. Gently Squeeze Excess Water from Hair
  7. Condition Hair Mid-Shaft to Ends - work through using fingers/wide tooth comb
  8. Rinse Hair Thoroughly - use coll water (seal the cuticle)
  9. Partially Towel Dry Hair - use a fresh towel to pat all the hair dry
  10. Clean Shampoo Bowl - clean bowl, remove any loose hair
