Officials hated/feared the theaters because they were gross and people would skip work to go see them. The shows attracted everyone even thiefs and the plague was known to spread at the theater.

Costumes were elegant and colorful because there was minimal scenery and only had actors and costumes. Commonfolk wore plain earth colored outfits daily, not to the theater. Upperclass wore colorful exotic fabric like silk and satin and wore fancy jewels

Women weren’t allowed to perform because master of revels said it was traditional to have no women. Women’s #1 job was marriage even arranged marriage. Women couldn’t vote, had hardly any legal rights and had barely any education
