How does Neisseria gonorrhoeae present and what is it’s microbiology?
A
- Thick urethral dischage
- Presents sooner
- Lots of neutrophils and Gram-neg diplococci on gram stain

How is Neisserie gonorrhoeae diagnosed and treated?
A
- NAAT (PCR based test)
- Managed using ceftriaxone, azithromycin and partner notification

How does Chlamydia trachomatis present and how is it treated?
A
- Frequently asymptomatic and can lead to tubal damage/infertility
- Treated with azithromycin and doxycycline

How is HSV treated?
A
- Aciclovir

How does syphilus present and how is it treated?
A
- Rash, lip chancre, anal chancre and alopecia
- Lesions can be painless
- Treat with injectable penicillin
