A

Her preferred method and future plans of children etc.

Identify comorbidities:
HTN, migrains, allergies, smoking, reproductive hx, drug hx.

Assess risk of STI, sexual abuse

What is the Fraser criteria?

A

It is lawful to provide contraception advice and tx to young people without parental consent if Fraser criteria met:

Understands practitioners advice.
Likely to begin or continue having sex.

Ppl >16 presumed to be competent to consent. If under 16 then competence must be demonstrated.

Copper-bearing IUD

Levonorgestrel-releasing IUS:
Available in 2 doses, 13.5mg licensed for 3 years.
52mg licensed for 5 yrs.

DO NOT USE:
stroke, long QT syndrome, unexplained vaginal bleeding, cervical cancer, distorted uterine cavity, PID, symptomatic STIs
