Anther
Part of a stamen that contains pollen.
Asexual Reproduction
A type of reproduction that only involves one parent. It produces offspring that are genetically identicle to the parent.
Bulbs
Underground food storage organs that can also grow and develop into new plants during asexual reproduction.
Egg
The female gamete.
Fertilisation
The process in which the neucleas of a sperm cell fuses with the nucleas of an egg cell to produce a zygote.
Gamete
A sex cell.
Ova
A female gamete (sex cell).
Ovary
A female reproductive organ in which eggs are produced.
Penis
A male sex organ from which males expel semen and urinate.
Pollen
A powdery substance produced by most flowers for the purpouse of sexual reproduction.
Runners
A fast growing stem, grows horizontally over the soil surface and puts down roots to form new plants.
Seeds
Contains a plant embryo and is a flowering plants’ unit of reproduction.
Sexual Reproduction
Involves the fusion of the nuclei from two gametes (sex cells) from two parents and the offspring are not genetically identicle to the parents.
Sperm
The male gamete produced in the testes.
Sperm Duct
The tubes that sperm travel down to get from the testes to the urethra.
Stigma
The sticky top of the female part of the flower which collects pollen grains.
Testes
Produce sperm.
Tubers
Underground food stores that use asexual reproduction as they develop into new plants.
Plant Propogation
How new plants are made from a parent plant, using seeds or parts like cuttings.
