A
- studied a family from Dominican Republic
- 4 of children were identified as girls at birth & raised as
- changed into males at puberty
- had rare genetic disorder which meant their male genitalia wasn’t external at birth
- chemical was missed during pregnancy which normally externalises genitalia
- due to puberty dihydrotestosterone was present
- abandoned their female gender identity & adapted to their roles as males
- suggests that gender identity may be flexible
