Set up teeth (lab) + Trial Frame and Teeth

Question 1

What should be inspected when the finished denture is returned from the lab?

Answer 1

• Acrylic resin does not have defects (porosity, bubbles)
• Polished surface adequately finished
• All factors from “trial denture” stage

Question 2

What post -op instructions should be given to pt?

Answer 2

• Leave out of mouth and in water at night
• Remove denture after meals when possible
• Clean mouth and dneture using soft brush and toothpaste
• Avoid using clasps as handles to remvoe denture
• Advise pt to be patient and expect a period of adjustment: expect difficulties with eating and speaking, choose a comfortable diet for first few days
• If sore spots arise and become severe, leave denture out of mouth and re-insert 24 hrs before next visit to make identification of spots easier
• Book review appointment within a week
• Discuss experience and difficulties
• Re-examin mouth and dentures and review factors at Trial insertion
• Make any neccessary adjustments
