King Horus Aha, also known as Menes, became the first ruler of a unified Egypt around 3000 BCE. His predecessor, Narmer, an Upper Egyptian chieftain, may have been the one to unify Egypt through military conquest, but Horus Aha was the first to declare himself a divine king, the living god Horus on Earth.
