Psychological Noise
Refers to things that are going on in your head as you engage in the communication process - can be questions, issues, personal opinions, stereotypes, and perspectives that get in the way of you accepting what the sender is saying.
Receiver
A message moves from sender through a channel to the receiver, who completes the communication process by interpreting and assigning meaning to the message (decoding).
Puffery
Speaker with overstate a point to stress it and make it more appealing.
Rate
How fast or slow we speak - slowly may tell the audience you are unprepared or not interested in the speech.
Audience Analysis
The process of determining through non-verbal clues whether the audience is actually interested in what you have to say.
Aside
A dramatic device in which a character speaks to the audience.
Meter
The rhythm and pacing of a poem.
Scansion
The act of determining and graphically representing the metrical character of a line or verse.
