will take a custody record, can authorise and refuse detention,

what rights does a person in custody have?
A
- Right to read a copy of the codes of practice that govern the detention of persons at a police station.
- Right to consult privately with a solicitor either in person or on the phone, free of charge and independent of the police.
- Right to have someone informed of their arrest. Not associate with the offence under investigation.

what is the custody officer responsible for?
A
is responsible for determining and implementing the response to each risk assessment they conduct

- the parent or guardian
- a person representing that authority or organisation
- social worker
