What is the primary method for authentication on a network?
User account which includes username and passwords that are stored in the AD DS database.
What does AD DS stand for?
Active Directory Domain Service
What are the two types of users?
Local users and Domain users
What does SAM stand for?
Security Account Manager
What is the NTDS?
A database that stores Active Directory data such as user object, groups and group memberships.
What two steps are required to add a computer to a domain?
- Create a computer account in the Active Directory and assigned the name of an actual computer on the network
- Join the computer to the domain whcih will contact the Domain Controller and establishes a relationship
What are the three reasons for creating an Organisational Unit (OU)?
- Duplicating organisational divisions
- Assigning group policy settings
- Delegating administration
What is the one built in OU by default?
Domain Controllers OU
Who can create OUs?
The domain administrator
What are the two types of Groups?
Distribution groups & security groups
What is a special idenity group?
Similar to a security group, can provide an efficent way to assign access to resources in your network
What does SID stand for?
