What is the insertion of serratus posterior superior?
ribs 2-5 (anteriorly)
What is the action of serratus posterior superior
raise upper ribs (not used in respiration)
What is the origin of serratus posterior inferior?
Vet spines T10 - L12
What is the insertion of serratus posterior inferior?
ribs 9-12 (anteriorly)
What is the action of serratus posterior inferior?
depress lower ribs (not used in respiration)
What is the origin of serratus anterior?
ribs 5-8 (anterior)
What is the insertion of serratus anterior?
medial border of the scapula (courses under the scapula)
What is the general action of serratus anterior?
generally protracts scapula
keeps the medial border of the scapula against the body
What is the action of the upper part of the serratus anterior?
suspends scapula along with other MM.
What is the action of the lower part of the serratus anterior?
assist upper trap in rotation of scapula so acromion can move forward/ raises the point of the shoulder as in raising the arm overhead
