What x-ray findings may be seen in ankylosing spondylitis?
Sacroiliac joints erosions, sclerosis, and joint space widening
Syndesmophytes, eventually developing into bamboo spine.
What is the initial management of ankylosing spondylitis?
NSAIDs and physio
When are DMARDs indicated in ankylosing spondylitis?
When there is peripheral joint disease
What is the initial management of psoriatic arthritis?
DMARDs
What joints does enteropathic arthritis normally affect?
Oligoarthritis of large joints
What can induce a reactive arthritis?
A GI infection (Salmonella, Campylobacter) or a GU infection (Chlamydia, Neisseria)
What joints are affected by reactive arthritis?
Large joints
What is the management of reactive arthritis?
Treat underlying infection
IM/IV steroids for symptoms
DMARDs only for chronic cases
