A

Freeze.Control.Guard.Preserve

  1. Identify (initial assessment of scene, powers available to deal with EM, crime scene itself (where body found, items suspect could discard), whos there, CAP, SITREP
  2. Secure (remove all persons using the CAP, establish cordons, arrange/brief scene guards, arrange crime scene logs, prevent unauthroised persons leaving/entering the scene, prevent further loss to EM (i.e. weather, animals).
  3. Preserve (Record movements in the scene, preserve whats there or to leave ‘in situ’, no immediate risk to life use stepping plates, be prepared to take immediate blood swabs or footprints.
  4. Consider (initial photographs)
  5. Record (observe/record full notes of precise details of the scene, complete scene sketch, identify anything that may have been moved, crime scene logs maintaining movements/times etc in the scene.

A

Whenever an alibi is put forward by an offender as a defence that OC suspect must make through enquiries into the veracity of the claim to confirm if it is true or false. They must fully report the result of it to the Crown via the 2IC of the investigation.

Instructions to person to Identify a victim?

A

It is OC Body responsibility to arranging formal identification of the body and for obtaining a formal identification statement. If possible ID to take place before the PM, however this isn’t always possible, and its up to the OC Body to inform the person carrying out the formal ID what is required of them, and what to expect when they view the deceased.

If the victim is unable to be ID’d then photographs should include the victims clothing, any tattoos, marks, and unusual scarring.

This is a path that persons can take in/out of a scene. The common approach path is established to reduce the amount of foot traffic all over a scene, and it sticks to just one way in/one way out that everyone can use. It usually avoids the one the suspect/victim have possibly used.
