Series and Parallel Circuits Flashcards
What is the difference between a Series or Parallel circuit?
A series circuit has only one way around it but a parallel circuit has more than one path.
What happens if you break the circuit?
if the circuit is broken then the current of electricity wont be able to flow.
If you break a branch in a parallel circuit what happens to the other branches?
if one branch is broken then the circuit does not stop current from flowing in the other branches.
What is the rule for a series circuit?
the current is the same at all points in a series circuit.
What is the rule for a parallel circuit?
the current flowing into a junction in a parallel circuit is equal to the sum of the current flowing in all the branches of that junction.
How do you figure out the Supply voltage in a series circuit?
you add up the voltage across each component to get the supply voltage.
How do you figure out the Supply voltage in a parallel circuit?
you add up the voltage in each branch to get the supply voltage.
