series and parallel circuits Flashcards

1
Q

Why are parallel circuits more suitable for domestic lighting than series circuits?

A

In a parallel circuit, each light works independently. If one bulb breaks, the others stay on.

consistent brightness - in paralell all lights recieve the same voltage = same brightness ( in sereis voltage is divided)

individual control - in parallel circuit each light can be controlled individually

Q

How does adding more components in series affect the current?

A

The total resistance increases, reducing the current in the circuit.

Q

What is a series circuit?

A

A circuit where all components are connected in a single loop, so the same current flows through each component.

Q

What is a parallel circuit?

A

A circuit where components are connected on separate branches, so the current splits between them.
