Before is usually a preposition. If something happens before a particular time or event, it happens during the period that precedes that time or event.
“Vineeta came in just before midnight.”
After
Después de
NB: After is usually a preposition. If something happens after a particular time or event, it happens during the period that follows that time or event. Eg.
“Vineeta came in just after midnight.”
I always shower before I eat breakfast
Me ducho siempre antes de desayunar
I brush my teeth after I eat
