Aspiration synovial fluid before AB
Surgery ASAP, irrev damage in 24hr
AB 2 weeks IV, 4 wk oral
Normally give fluclox, somet with gent. Clindamycin if pen allergic.
If high risk gram neg then cefuroxime
If risk MRSA then vanco and cephalosporin
If susp gono or meningococcus then ceftriaxone
Aspiration or arhtroscopy as req
NO intra artic steroids if suspect infec
