seperation techniques ( chapter 4 ) Flashcards
What are the methods of filtration
First, Dissolve the mixture in ( solvent ) . Secondly ,pour the mixture through a filter funnel lined with filter paper into a beaker. Third, collect the filtrate of ( ? solution ) in a beaker. Last , collect the residue of ? that remains on the filter paper. Rinse the ? with small amounts of distilled water and dry the powder between sheets of filter paper.
Method of distillation
Heat the mixture in a distilling flask in a set up .Then. when the thermometer first shows a reading of 100 degree Celsius , water boils off. Water vapour passes through the condenser, cools and condenses to produce liquid water , which is collected in the conicl flask as the distillate.
Function of condenser
The condenser cools the vapour so tht they can condense to form a liquid and can be collected as the distilate.
