Q

Name 4 ways you can separate a mixture

A

Chromatography involves solvent separation on a solid medium. Distillation takes advantage of differences in boiling points. Evaporation removes a liquid from a solution to leave a solid material. Filtration separates solids of different sizes.

Q

Describe how to carry out chromatography

A

Adot of mixture is put at the bottom of a piece of chromatography paper. The paper is then placed upright in a solvent , such as water. As the solvent soaks up the paper, it carries the mixtures with it.
