What is an interrogative?
A question.
What is a declarative?
A statement.
What is an exclamative?
A sentence used to exclaim.
Usually ends with an exclamation mark.
What is a complex sentence?
A sentence that contains a main clause and one or more subordinate clauses.
e.g. “Although I enjoy music, I wouldn’t buy a CD.”
What is a minor sentence?
An incomplete sentence.
e.g. “Sorry” or “Working together-for lower costs and higher prices”
What is a simple sentence?
A sentence containing one main clause.
e.g. “You are fat”
What is a compound sentence?
A sentence containing two or more main clauses. Often joined by a conjunction.
e.g. “You are fat but I like you anyway”
What is a compound-complex sentence?
A sentence containing two or more main clauses and one or more subordinate clause.
e.g. “Although my friend is married, he can’t keep his hands off me and my wife is jealous.”
What is an imperative?
An instruction or command.
Always begin with a verb.
