A
- Contains a subject and a verb
- Expresses a single complete thought that can stand on its own
Eg. The baby cried for food.

A
- Has 2 independent clauses
- Basically, contains 2 simple sentences
- Joined by a conjunction
Eg. The shoplifter had stolen clothes, so he ran from the police.

Complex Sentence
A
- Independent clause joined by one or more dependent clauses
- Always has a subordinating conjunction OR a relative pronoun
Eg. After eating lunch at the restaurant, Tim went to exercise at the gym.
