Minor Sentence
A
Minor sentences do not conform to the regular patterns of sentence structure, containing no full clauses, e.g. “Hello”

Simple Sentence
A
These contain one clause, e.g. “I went shopping.

Compound Sentences
A
These contain two clauses which are of equal importance to the sentence, joined by coordinating conjunctions, e.g. “I went shopping and I bought some new school shoes.”

Complex Sentences
A
- two or more clauses
- later clauses are of lesser importance and rely on the first clause for meaning (subordinate clauses)
- joined by subordinating conjunctions
e.g. “I went shopping because of the holes in my school shoes.”
