What are the basic elements of every sentence?
Subject and predicate
What is simple sentence?
it has both one sentence and predicate
Example:
We walked from our house to church.
Simple Sentence with compound subject
this is like a review, this might come out in the test
Example:
in the module* Tom and Mary plays tennis
1. A group of my classmates studied the problem and solved it within a minute.
2. My grandpa and grandma gave us sweets everytime they come to our house
What is a Compound Sentence?
made up of two INDEPENDENT CLAUSES. independent clauses are connected with ;
=coordinating conjunctions
=conjunctive adverbs
=semi-colon
What are the conjunctive adverbs

When to use semicolons?
if the relation between the ideas expressed in the main clauses is very close and obvious without using conjunctions
What is Complex sentence?
A complex sentence has 1 dependent and indepent clause.
-the dependent clause is linked to the rest of the sentence by the subornating conjunctions
What are the subornating conjunctions?
after, although,as, because, before, how, if, once, since, than, that, though, till, until, when, where, whether, and while
What is compound-complex sentence?
it has more than independent and 1 dependent clause
-The conjunctions connect the various parts of this phrase.
