- Read the original sentence carefully, looking for errors
- Scan and group the answer choices
- Eliminate choices until only one remains
What is the most likely source of error?
VERBS IN THE UNDERLINED PORTION ARE A LIKELY SOURCE OF ERRORS
What should you watch most for in preposition phrases?
Anything that starts with ‘in’ or an ‘of’ is going to be a prepositional phrase, leading you away from the true subject
Anything surrounded by comma’s you can eliminate
List the common sentence correction errors
Verbs – Agreement and tense
Pronouns – antecedent and agreement
Modification – Placing modifier next to what it modifies
Parallel Structure – logically comparable and parallel structure
Usage/Idioms – avoiding awkward and wordy constructions; using idioms correctly
Miscellaneous Errors – Which/where/when, subjunctive, clauses and connectors
