Tips: Simply the main words in the subject, Always noun or pronoun, never a prepositional phrase
Complete subject
Consists of all the words that tell whom or what a sentence is about.
Tips: The complete amount of words tells what the sentence is about.
Predicate
The part of the sentence that says something about the subject
Ex: The Lincoln Memorial * is a national monument *
Simple predicate or verb
Is the main word or group of words in a complete predicate
Tips: HV + MV = verb phrase
Direct Address
Ex: Betty, could you have Herman the notes on your desk
