Sensory Flashcards
1
Q
Trigeminal V1- Mandibular
A
General somatic afferent information
- mucosa of anterior 2/3s of tongue
- mucosa of soft palate
- lower teeth and gums
- tempomandibular joint
- skin on the lower lip and jaw
- inside/outside lower mouth
2
Q
Trigeminal V2- Maxillary
A
General somatic afferent
- *oral prep and transport
- mucosa of nasopharynx
- mucosa of soft palate
- mucosa of hard palate
- upper teeth and gums
3
Q
Facial VII
A
spacial visceral afferent
- *visceral information comes from the same area as somatosensory, but it travels though VII
- anterior 2/3 of tongue
4
Q
Glossopharyngeal IX
A
Special visceral afferent information, general somatic afferent; senses that food is in the back of the pharynx
- *triggers sequence of motor events
- posterior 1/3 of tongue (taste)
- posterior 1/3 of tongue (somatosensory)
- oropharynx
- palatine tonsils
- mucosa of anterior/posterior faucial pillars
5
Q
Vagus X; Pharyngeal Branch
A
General somatic afferent; sensory innervation of the pharynx
-mucosa of pharynx
6
Q
Vagus X; Superior Laryngeal Nerve (SLN) – Internal branch
A
General somatic and special visceral afferent
- *protects upper laryngeal vestibule ; if bolus enters laryngeal vestibule, a cough response is elicited bc of the SLN
- area above the VF
- mucosa of the laryngopharynx
- mucosa of the epiglottis
- mucosa of the aryepiglottic folds
- small area of posterior tongue
- joint receptors in the larynx
7
Q
Vagus X; Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve (RLN)
A
general somatic and visceral afferent
- mucosa of the larynx below the VF
- interior pharyngeal constrictor
- upper esophagus
8
Q
Vagus X; Esophageal br.
A
Special visceral afferent (taste)
- epiglottis
- esophagus
