~A group of people are born and raised in a cave facing a wall, never able to turn and see the opening
~Other people move mannequins behind them, casting shadows on the cave wall
~If the people are allowed to turn around they can see the mannequins, but they can never see the real living things the mannequins represent

A

~There are perfect forms in heaven of what humans call Justice, Freedom, etc.
~Humans see shadows of the forms, which is what they are talking about when they use the words “Justice” and “Freedom”
~Philosophers can tell the difference between the shadows and the real forms and get closer to reality through meditation
