Semana 2 Flashcards
Hypothalamus
Maintains homeostasis by regulating Thirst and water balance, controlling adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis release of hormones produced in the hypothalamus, and regulating hunger, autonomic nervous system, temperature, and sexual urges
Lateral nucleus
Hypothalamus
-Hunger, stimulated by ghrelin and inhibited by leptin.
-Injury: anorexia, failure to thrive
Ventromedial nucleus
Satiety. Stimulated by leptin
-Injury: hyperphagia, obesity
Anterior nucleus
Cooling, parasymphatetic
Injury: hyperthermia
Posterior nucleus
Heating, sympathetic
-Injury: hypothermia
Suprachiasmatic nuclues
Circadian rhythm
Injury: insomnio
Supraoptic nucleus
Regulates water balance. Production of: ADH, oxytocin
Injury: diabates insipida
Paraventricular nucleus
Regulates water balance. Production of TRH, CRH, somatostatina, ADH, oxytocin
Injury: diabetes insipida
Preoptic nucleus
Regulates sex function and the secretion of gonatropic hormones. Thermoregulation.
Injury: kallman syndrome
Arcuate hypothalamic nucleus
regulates secretion of neuroendocrine hormones from the pituitary gland. Inhibts lactation (contains dopaminergic neurons that inhibts prolactin and GnRH)
Mamillary body
controls episodic memory, receives input from the hippocampus, projects to the anter thalamic nucleus
Injury:wernicke encephalopathy
