What is the case of R v Gladstone Williams ?

A

The defendant genuinely believe the police was attacking the youth - self defence is allowed if a person genuinely believes they need to use force to repel the attack it doesn’t matter if they are mistaken - you can use force to repel an attack on another

A

two males had broken into the defendants farm house - this hadn’t been the first time and within norfolk they were known trouble makers - the defendant shot the two burglars once they had left , this meant they were shot in the back - he tried to use his psychiatric conditions as a justifiable reason but this was rejected

A

The defendants shop had been attack and damaged by rioters - due to fear of further attacks the defendant made petrol bombs - the defence of self defence was accepted as they decided it was correct that the defendant could make preparations for self defence.
