What is the definition of Self- Confidence?
The belief or degree of certainty individuals about their ability to be successful in sport.
What is the difference between self-confidence and self-efficacy?
Self confidence is how much belief you have to be generally successful in sport.
Self efficacy is situation specific in sport
What is trait confidence?
Consistent level of confidence shown in most situations
The player is happy and their anxiety is low
Player believes they can perform across a range of sports
What is state confidence?
Confidence is shown in a specific situation
It is temporary and varies depending on the experience and personality of performer
What is self efficacy?
A belief in the ability to master a specific sporting situation

Performance- how well performed, based on levels of state sport, higher state confidence= better the performance

Athletes belief and expectations about their ability to perform a task
If all 4 constructs are positive then efficacy expectations will be high
