Valproate acid adverse effects

A

Cns (sedation nausea dizziness tiredness headache, etc)
Tremors (careful with Parkinson’s patients)
Hyper ammonia (lethargy, vomiting
GI
Weight gain
Pancreatitis
Polycyclic ovarian syndrome
Rash
Hair thinning
Thrombocytopenia but usually benign and inhibits platelet aggregation
