BENZODIAZEPINE OD

- Usual
R
- Generally benign sedation and ataxia, even in kids
- Concern is with:
–> Alprazolam
–> Coingestant sedatives
S
ANTICIPATE:
- Symptoms within 1-2 hours (sleepy, ataxic)
- Sedation –> coma
- Resp depression
- HypoTN only in massive dose
-SUPPORT:
- Mainstay
I
- 12-lead, BGL, parac (delib)
- UDS if diagnostic diff.

AC: No. Good outcomes with supportive.

FLUMAZENIL
–> Paediatric OD when airway compromised
(0.01-0.02mg/kg every minute)
–> Try and avoid in adult OD (risk of dependence/ seizure). Only if airway compromise, and can’t intubate….
(0.1-0.2mg/kg every minute)
–> Monitor for resedation (90mins)
