What is Conscious sedation?
A
- Use of drugs to produce state of depression of CNS enabling txt to be carried out
- Verbal contact maintained throughout
- Drugs and techniques carry margin of safety wide enough to render loss of consciousness unlikely

A
- Child anxious but co-op
- txt straight forward
- txt not likely to damage child’s attitude

Contraindications Conscious sedation
A
- Severe dental anxiety , not willing to coi-op
- Txt extensive or complex
- Too young to understand
- can’t breathe through nose
