Servers brought down, unable to function, cannot carry out their day to day business, customers unable to get goods or services, could result in loss of business, reputation and income.
What is meant by the term “Deepfake”?
This is where an image or video of someone has been digitally altered so they appear to be someone else, or doing something they didn’t originally do. Used maliciously or to spread fake news.
Why do people cyber attack and what are the impacts on a country of a cyber attack?
To exploit vulnerabilities in key infrastructures, such as
Energy
Transportation
Communication sectors
Health systems (NHS computer system attacked a couple of years ago)
Military
Finance sectors
Destabilise Governments, or to affect or influence key decisions, such as voting.
Current situation in Ukraine/Russia - cyber attacks on both countries
